The Insurance Institute of Blackburn and Burnley recently closed, with its 356 members moving across to become members of the Insurance Institute of Bolton. There remain 55 local insurance institutes across the UK.
The decision was made by the Blackburn and Burnley council earlier this year and president Sean McParland stated: “The Insurance Institute of Blackburn and Burnley was founded in 1930 and has been proud to be one of the network of institutes providing technical continuing professional development (CPD) and engagement activities for CII members at a local level. It has been an honour to be on the Blackburn and Burnley council since moving into the area from Huddersfield in 1986. I had previously served on the council in Huddersfield since 1982.
“I would like to extend my thanks to the Insurance Institute of Bolton for welcoming us with open arms and look forward to continuing to contribute to the local institute network for many years to come. I am confident the
Bolton institute will help previous members of Blackburn and Burnley meet their CPD needs.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to all CII members who have served on the Blackburn and Burnley council over the years – your support was very much appreciated.”
