The CII was saddened to learn of the passing of Helen Wilcox, a former CII vice-president and past president of Nottingham Insurance Institute.
Helen dedicated more than 30 years’ service to the Nottingham Institute, holding many roles within the council during her tenure, including two terms as president, in 2009-2011 and again in 2020-2021.
She was a huge advocate of education and development and was committed to delivering successful support to professionals within the insurance arena. Her role as a vice-president at the CII saw Helen support many local institute annual dinners. She chaired a working party of volunteers which developed and introduced a new financial reporting and returns process for local institute treasurers.
Latterly, she was a driving force on the Local Institute Operations Group, working to support local volunteers in their efforts to achieve excellence in the local membership proposition. She was also awarded a CII Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her hard work for both Nottingham Insurance Institute and the CII.
Current Nottingham Insurance Institute president Joanne Marriott, a friend and former colleague of Helen, said: “Through the years, Helen has connected with so many people throughout the insurance industry, earning respect for her knowledge, ethos and commitment from all who knew her and those who knew of her. She was a guiding light in the advocacy of professionalism in insurance and will be greatly missed by all.”
Helen’s advice, guidance and support, as well as her patience and humour, will also be greatly missed by those who she worked with at the CII, in particular the regional membership team and colleagues in governance.
