Attracting and retaining diverse talent is key to raising public trust in the profession in 2022, according to the Society of Claims Professionals (SoCP).

Sue McCall, chair of the SoCP, said the membership body will work with the CII to ensure the professional body’s skills and knowledge framework further assists with ensuring the profession attracts and retains top talent.

Ms McCall said ensuring the profession takes heed of the regulator’s focus on equality, diversity and inclusion will also be key to increasing the size of the talent pool for the claims profession.

She said: “With the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulatory Authority having highlighted regulatory issues around equality, diversity and inclusion – and stating that financial services could do better – the strategic goal and organisational imperative of all claims organisations should be to build a diverse, inclusive, technically and operationally resilient team, while continuing to support members with their professional development.”
