The Insurance Institute of Bristol continues to focus on providing a range of CPD learning, with recently formed subcommittees working fantastically hard delivering specific programmes of events.

The young professionals group, NxtGen Bristol, provides learning and a network relevant to new entrants to the profession. 2021 saw the launch of NxtGen Bristol’s Careers Week, presenting a virtual event each day. These bitesize webinars covered interview skills, presentation skills, raising visibility for career success, time management and networking, and focus on individual career journeys and goals.

A Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee is also new, starting in autumn 2021. The group is hosting a series of talks on how inclusive we are as a profession, and how we can challenge ourselves to become better allies and advocates. Sessions will include understanding protected characteristics, uncovering attendees’ own responses to bias, to tips on engaging colleagues in meaningful change.

Insurance Institute of Bristol president Louise Nicholls said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to our subcommittee chairs, Connor Jones and Emily Kenna, for their dedication and efforts in organising these events. Bristol members can look forward to an engaging and diverse programme of activity and support as 2022 progresses.”
