The first meeting of the CII’s newly created International Affiliated Institute Forum took place in April.
The forum aims to encourage the sharing of ideas among each of the CII’s affiliated institutes and promote greater cross collaboration internationally.
During the meeting, representatives from some of the 38 member institutes shared an overview of the activities and successes in their regions so far, as well as the challenges ahead for 2021 and beyond.
Sian Fisher, CEO of the CII, joined Charles Washoma, vice-president of the Affiliated Institutes, Laurence Smith, regional director Africa, and Isaac Olubitan, international business manager, introducing the forum and sharing what members can expect for 2021.
Mr Smith also provided an update on the CII’s ‘A World of’ series, which focuses on the latest developments across the international insurance and financial planning profession.
Ms Fisher said: “We are so proud of having so many historic relationships, with some 38 affiliated institutes around the world. This is an amazing network within itself, added to which the CII has recently become an associate of the Commonwealth.
“Many ambitious young people relish the opportunity that insurance brings to travel and work in different countries.
Life is a risky business for everyone, therefore consumers across the world need access to the financial resilience that insurance can bring. There is a critical need for a trusted insurance profession and for trusted insurance professionals across the world.
“This is the background to why we wanted to put our affiliated relationships on a more formal footing and to create this forum – to share ideas and to create new ideas.”
