As the Insurance Institute of Luton & Hertfordshire’s AGM approaches, outgoing 2020/2021 president Tanya Bedford has reflected on a year that turned out a little differently than she was expecting.
“The past 12 months have been very different to any year that many institutes have had to face throughout their history,” said Ms Bedford. “The global pandemic that we are still having to deal with has challenged all of us on both a professional and personal level. Many members have had to work under very difficult circumstances, many were placed on furlough or lost their jobs and companies were faced with never-before-seen challenges.
“As an institute, Luton & Hertfordshire was quick to evaluate members needs’ and utilise our network of speakers to quickly switch to an online CPD offering. As a result, we offered members more than 100 hours of CPD, covering an extensive range of topics. As well as a leading CPD programme, we were also able to celebrate members’ successes by contacting them individually by email to congratulate them on their qualification success.”
She concluded: “The Institute would like to thank our members and speakers for all of the support provided during the past year. The feedback received has been some of the most positive the institute has seen and demonstrates the great success the institute has had throughout this difficult time.”
