Although the 'Beast from the East' caused the Cambridge Institute to cancel its Anglia Market Forum at Newmarket Racecourse, all food from the event was kindly donated to local homeless shelter Jimmy's of Cambridge.
The lively panel debate draws about 150 members each year and 2018 was no exception. With the help of the venue, copious amounts of sausages, pies, chicken skewers and potato wedges carefully made their way to the shelter in support of the Cambridge homeless community.
Special thanks must go to Martin Hennell of Saffron Insurance, the Cambridge Institute's programme secretary, for all his hard work in not only arranging the evening, but also ensuring none of the food went to waste when the Beast from the East arrived. These events are hosted for members by members and it is disappointing to have to cancel such a popular event, so it is pleasing there was a silver lining.
