The fifth Kent Conference was held in March, playing host to more than 160 people from different sectors of the profession, all focused on the theme of 'A Disruptive World'.
The three institutes in Kent -- comprising Mid Kent; Folkestone, Canterbury and East Kent; and Royal Tunbridge Wells -- joined forces once again to host the annual full-day programme of continuing professional development (CPD).
The keynote speakers were Inga Beale, CEO of Lloyd's and current president of the CII;Nick Hankin, CUO of Aviva; David Williams, technical director of AXA; and Branko Bjelobaba, regulation and compliance consultant, who covered a variety of issues relating to the industry. This was followed by a question and answer session hosted by the conference chairman, Ray Johnson, and other excellent presentations covering cyber, terrorism and Ogden tables.
Mr Johnson commented: "This event enjoys superb feedback each year from the delegates, where 100% said they would return. Due to everyone's busy lifestyles, the idea is to provide relevant lectures on an easy-in, easy-out basis. As always, the presenters were most informative, and our aim is to always have plenty of takeaways to implement and share with colleagues within the profession. We are now working on our next year's event, which is due to be held in Maidstone once again, on Thursday 7 March 2019."
