City law firm Wedlake Bell and its subsidiary ProDPO have announced they are to provide the CII with outsourced data protection officer services in preparation for the landmark General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force on 25 May 2018.
ProDPO provides outsourced data protection officer services to businesses in light of the GDPR. The legislation places specific legal obligations on businesses, including requirements to maintain records of personal data and processing activities.
General counsel at the CII, Liam Russell, said: "We take our data protection responsibilities very seriously and we want to demonstrate best practice to the industry. We are committed to ensuring that we are equipped for the GDPR on behalf of our 120,000 members. Using the ProDPO service will help to ensure that we are in the best possible position before May 2018."
