By 2025, there will be one million people in the UK living with dementia. By 2030, the cost of dementia to UK business is due to rise to £3bn.

The Alzheimer's Society is uniting leaders in the insurance sector to form Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD). Led by a high profile board including Sian Fisher, of the CII, IUAD aims to increase awareness and raise £10m, through personal donations, corporate partnerships and events. These funds will support pioneering research into the condition, which will affect one in three of us during our lifetimes. As the UK's leading dementia charity, the Alzheimer's Society is determined to improve understanding of the cause, care, cure and prevention of dementia.

As founding partner of The UK Dementia Research Institute, the Alzheimer's Society has invested £50m into this £250m project, led by Professor Bart de Strooper. "For Alzheimer's disease we only have treatments that help relieve the symptoms," said Professor de Strooper. "What is needed is curative therapy."

With IUAD funding, the society can support experienced researchers to develop programmes to tackle dementia from all angles.

INSURANCE SUPPER CLUB WITH IUAD

The CII hosted an Insurance Supper Club event for IUAD on 31 May. The roundtable dinner was held to raise awareness around the hugely important topic of dementia. The speaker on
the night was special guest Sarah Weir OBE, CEO at the Design Council and a trustee of the Alzheimer's Society.

IUAD is delighted to be partnering with the CII to raise vital awareness and funds.
