Keith Richards, director of engagement at the CII, and Sainesh Dar, regional head of South Asia and Middle East at the CII, travelled to Dubai recently where they met up with the management team from the Arab Insurance Institute (AII) which is the insurance education arm created for the entire Arab world as part of the Foundation For Insurance and Finance Education (FIFE).
Husain Yusuf Alajmi, the CEO, and Mahesh Prabhu, the head of operations of the AII, discussed their future plans for the MENA region with Mr Richards which included their ambitions to promote insurance qualifications for all the insurance practitioners in the region.
A translation agreement was signed on behalf of the CII as the AII team shared their project plan to translate all the CII certification programmes into Arabic, which would help a wider section of young people to pursue insurance learning.
There were other discussions with regards to membership proposition and events, and also the unique opportunities available with regulators and government bodies in the region keen on developing skills and knowledge in the local nationals. This would then slowly lessen the dependence on foreign talent running the insurance and financial services industry.
