The CII office in Mumbai in association with Insurance Post Asia organised a general insurance event 'Mumbai Insurance Club -- Preparing for tomorrow' in June. The event was attended by a small select group of people (mainly senior leaders) from the general insurance, broking and talent development industry.

At this lunch and afternoon briefing session at the St. Regis hotel, Mumbai, Alice Vaidyan -- chairman/managing director, General Insurance Corporation, India, joined the occasion as a key note speaker and provided some invaluable insights on 'The role of Technology in Insurance -- Now and likely Impact in the Future'.

Sainesh Dar, regional head -- South Asia and Middle East, CII spoke on 'Professionalism in the Insurance Industry -- importance of developing professional and technical skills', which was followed by a CEO panel discussion that included Praveen Gupta, managing director and CEO, Raheja QBE, Shankar Garigiparthy, CEO & country manager India, Lloyd's of London, Matthew Cannock, principal officer & managing director, Markel International Singapore and Sukesh Shetty, head of claims, Willis Towers Watson Mumbai. The discussion revolved around topics including developing professional and technical skills, foreign investment in Indian insurance, the latest insurtech developments and improving service standards.

This first Mumbai Insurance Club event had some great content, excellent speakers and was well received by all participants.
