On 6 June, the London Institute's Young Members Committee (YMC) hosted a group from the Singapore College of Insurance (SCI) on the insurance management associate programme, which is a structured 2-year development programme specifically designed for new graduates who aspire to a career in the insurance industry. This programme is supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the regulatory body.
The visit by the SCI is the fourth hosted by the IIL in recent years and reflects the closer links between London and Singapore. The relationship has been developed further by a presentation in the IIL's lunchtime lecture programme in 2015 by MAS 's managing director
and subsequent follow up with their London office.
Attendees on the evening mixed informally to learn more about the differences in education, culture and work opportunities between the different locations. Interestingly, many attendees reported back that although there were differences, many were pleasantly surprised on how many similarities there were as well.
The event was a great success with many positive comments after the event, especially with regard to the development of closer links between Singapore
and London.
