Yorkshire's tourism industry has been reborn since stage one of the 2014 Tour de France -- the 'Grand Départ' -- raced through Leeds, Harrogate, York and Sheffield.
The man responsible for bringing one of the world's biggest sporting events to Yorkshire was Sir Gary Verity, making him the perfect speaker for the Insurance Institute of Leeds' February lecture on inspiring and motivating yourself and your staff.
As an extremely passionate chief executive, who also worked for 18 years with Royal Insurance, Sir Gary described how he overcame multiple hurdles in securing the first stage of the Tour de France, including a lack of government backing and funding for the campaign.
Details of future lectures can be found on www.cii.co.uk/leeds or you can join in the discussions on LinkedIn via the Insurance Institute of Leeds group.
