John Bissell MBA ACII has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Mr Bissell has commenced his new role, following his most recent position as senior vice-president at the not-for-profit Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development, where he was responsible for global operations and development.
In his new role at the CII, Mr Bissell has responsibility for the business operations, customer service, it, finance and facilities functions of the professional body, and has joined the CII's board of directors. He will also be a key contributor to the delivery of the CII's recently launched Strategic Manifesto -- 2021 Roadmap.
CII chief executive officer Sian Fisher ACII said: "John offers the CII a wealth of international, IT and customer engagement experience and I am thrilled that he has decided to join us at such an important time for both the insurance profession and its professional body.
"As we embark on our change programme during the next five years, John will play an important role in helping the executive team evolve the CII into the relevant, modern and diverse organisation that such a fast-changing profession requires."
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Bissell said: "Modernising and enhancing CII operations will play a central role in achieving the organisation's strategic objectives, and I look forward to working with the CII team to develop a workplace environment that supports collaboration, flexibility and dynamism."
